You ever go into a automotive repair shop for a $24.99 oil change and a "free" check of the car/truck.. and the service writer comes up and tells you that you need a Transmission Flush that it will help your car and that it flushes 99% of the old fluid out .... well what happens to the old filter the shop does not  change the filter. The filter still has the old fluid and sludge build up in it so you dont really help your car out .. all they are doing is selling you a product from BG or some other company. Upselling Is IT... a shop cant make money just on that $24.99 oil change.

A "FREE" brake check ......when the mechanic pulls the wheels that is taking time he dont get paid just to pull the wheels if he is FLAT RATE. So when he pulls the wheels off he will mic the rotors and probly say that the brakes are wearing uneven then the service writer steps in here we go..... the uneven brake wear they tell you is the cause of a "BAD Caliper" (Q:Did they test the caliper)(A:99% of the time is NO) cause it takes time. So now you need calipers ,brake pads, brake rotors. (Q: are the rotors really bad..did you ask to see the spec book and ask them to mic them in front of you) most of the time you dont need rotors , you can turn the rotors cost less than new rotors. and last a brake flush is it really worth it ? most of the time the answer is NO just more money out of your pocket. After all this your brake job is probly around $600.00 when all you needed was pads and turn the rotors that  would have maybe costed $150.00
